Alba Rohrwacher

She is one of the outstanding talents of European cinema. "Her characters are people who wander through the world, looking, doubting, despairing."

"Alba Rohrwacher is a versatile actress, sometimes playing gentle, sometimes strong roles, while also searching for herself. Her characters are themselves searching, often in life crises. They are people who wander through the world, looking, doubting, despairing." (Oliver Armknecht, on: filmfest-muenchen.de) The Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher (born 1979 in Florence) is one of the outstanding talents of European cinema. She initially tried her hand at studying medicine, but it was only when she stepped onto the stage and slipped into a wide variety of roles that she found her way to try herself out and be herself. She played her first film role in 2004 and has since received numerous awards. Her sister is the director Alice Rohrwacher (‘Happy as Lazzaro’). Alba Rohrwacher was honoured with the CineMerit Award for her services to cinema at the Munich Film Festival in 2022. In this context, Oliver Armknecht wrote about her role in ‘The Peacock Paradise’ that she doesn't need words to act impressively. "After all, the Italian actress has often proven in her 20-year career that she can say a lot without having to express anything verbally. This makes her the ideal cast for this drama, which is very much about how and whether we communicate with each other at all. And about the feelings that lie hidden behind the beautiful façade."
